Coldest April for 60 yrs apparently ...air frost somewhere in UK EVERY night?
Says Met.
And frost last night to welcome the merry month of May. Currently wall to wall sunshine but the forecast suggests showers during the day. At the moment the cloud mass isn't on track to reach here but that may change. Continuing cold.
Wall-to-wall BLISTERING frost up here overnight.
Now, cloudless.......
..................until I go out to hang washing, and........................RAIN!
Rain forecast here for later, just when I'm likely to be outside in the queue waiting for my second jab; I may have to take a brolly! I remembered to put a short-sleeved shirt on when I got dressed this morning, so at least the mental faculties seem still to be operative!

DRAT!!
I thought you wanted rain... We have had another couple of short showers here but nothing of volume, and given the continuing wind my washing is doing quite well, the raindrops just evaporating very quickly if they make contact. The wind is also ensuring that the pollen washed out by the rain is now being thrown around at high concentrations closer to the ground, and I will have to admit defeat and take an antihistamine pill.
Yes, wanted rain.........but, thought it was for tomorrow and took the chance..........and then....and then........
Well surely you know how it works - need to put out washing it'll rain, forget umbrella it'll rain - regardless of what's supposed to happen. Down here such is the priority where rain is concerned that I think washing can temporarily take a back seat if necessary.
Big showers now forming, and slowly moving in. My washing on line is done for!
Thank you for reminding me - I was intending to put my sheets through the wash in the hope of persuading the low chances of rain to improve somewhat... Would have dome it earlier, but a quick popping out the back to move some pots to make space for a table and chair turned into a 2 hour gardening session.
