The temperature has just reached 10 C - all signs (apart from sad vestiges of two snow persons on the lawn) now vanished: thanks heavens! I just managed to avoid a tumble while out yesterday. And tomorrow London temperatures are predicted to reach a possible 14 C: the late April/mid-October normal! All this will have to be paid for, of course, with an expected temperature plunge on Saturday for most areas, as the cold block wins out over the Atlantic, temporarily.

I think this is how a table-tennis ball feels.

Pleasant not to have to do Michelin man impressions for a walk this afternoon, but the ice floes still in the pond on the common were a reminder of how cold it has been.

Indeed. I think down here, another uninspiring day.

At the moment the rain isn't too heavy, and the cloud is clearing across pretty quickly. A lot fell overnight and there is a great deal of standing water everywhere. I was again able to show my neighbour the temporary stream and pond in my garden that's caused by his overflowing water butt not being piped back into the drain. I joke about it but actually it isn't funny and is the reason my fence is falling apart. However I have to be careful as he is a good neighbour, bad enemy kind of person and 'takes agin' very quickly as happened with his neighbours on the other side end of 2019 - now resolved fortunately. In a mid terrace, dependent on rear access across others' gardens, one has to choose one's battles!

Sunny and breezy, 10C. Washing is on the line.

I've just had to bite the bullet on that front - too much cloud leakage and not enough air movement even for my low 'worth a go' standards of what constitutes a drying outside day. Tiresome, as bed linen and towels to wash, but the basket is overflowing thanks to previous poor days so little point delaying yet again. So frustrating not being able to get some gardening done but I must just be grateful that I'm not flooded as so many other poor folk are.

We're lucky enough to have a clothes drying area for use in summer. For winter I have an old spin dryer: clothes still damp then get ironed where necessary and everything is then draped either over various doors and radiators, and dries out by the following morning.

Temperature right now just short of 13 C, but marred by a damp fresh breeze, with only weak sunshine.

Not a very inspiring day. Quite mild though.

Last night, MrsBBM said to me, didn’t you hear the rain last night? I said, no! She was quite surprised. Apparently, it was quite heavy. Ah well! Today, rather dull! Heavy cloud. More rain perhaps?

Yes we've got a nice fresh breeze(!) a blowing this morning. Not at all pleasant to be out in(I am currently prevaricating on that front but have to get bread and milk, so Michelin man will appear in due course) but so long as it stays dry it does do a good job of shifting excess water.
