Hard frost overnight, birdbaths frozen solid. Things are thawing but it's very cold out, and the general greyness doesn't help. It was better first thing when the cloud was broken and although the sun wasn't out it was reasonably bright and there was a bit of (admittedly pale) blue sky. Rain to look forward to later although not until the end of the afternoon it's reckoned - I hope that's correct as I have to go out after lunch.

According to the forecast just now you might even get a bit of snow tonight where you are. Not down here - just rain, rain and more ditto.

Mention of sleet possibility for tomorrow, but otherwise just rain through the night and cold - I think the lack of high ground(!) tends to reduce the chance of snow in such circumstances...
It didn't actually rain when I was out earlier - but the cloud did get rather leaky on the way back (big isolated drops, and spats of drizzle) so I was glad I had brought a hat with me.
Snow on tops, grey and ominous below. Sleet now at strength at our level.
NE wind.
Crikey! What a day!!
Temperature has dropped from 10 C to 5 C since I got up today - continuous rain, possibly turning sleety this evening. At least tomorrow promises to be fine: I think everybody's bird baths will have been thoroughly replenished by now!
Our local woodland footpaths - which I have been sadly avoiding in recent months as being too overcrowded for safety - will have become impassable quagmires by now.
