Lovely morning up here in this bit of the Pennines, too - clear skies, bright sunshine, gorgeous colours, and crisp, clean air (though a bit less chilly than at this time over the past couple of mornings or so).Numquam Satis!

I was wondering why I was feeling a bit chilly this morning, until I checked the midday temperature and it was just 10 C, having gone down to 4 C last night. So the heating goes back on when it switches on at 6 o'clock, in readiness for a much chillier feel this Saturday, when wind and rain mark the introduction of a fresher, chill-enfactored nor'westerly type, which will bring daytime maxima down to about 10 C in the middle of Town, a bit below the early November norm, and nighttime minima close to freezing. The rapid cooling off, together with the reduction of daylight hours, always catches me out at this time of year, even at my age; this year it seems to have happened more quickly than usual, and I fancy the trees are transforming and losing their leaves faster, also.

... mme v has determined that we shd have our first fire of the winter tonite. Partly coz it's cold, but also to celebrate the departure of a burdensome guest (families! - dontcha hate 'em??!) and to celebrate that fact that we're still alive (when many of our cohort aren't, or soon won't be... ). So a happy afternoon getting all the makings for a good winter fire. Praps sossidges and a heavy rioja to accompany...

Certinly not stormy weather (unless you happen to be in Scotland just now); but winter temperatures have more-or-less become established across the land now. Quite a frost here this morning - white rooftops; the fact that my north wall-facing max-min thermometer nevertheless read a minimum of + 1 Celsius suggests that heat is escaping into the outside air.
Beautiful orange sunset, with pink tufted cirrus overhead as I am writing this.

Seriously scary oop 'ere, rainwise. Rivers already near flood levels, into the core of Lakes, creaming waterfalls everywhere.
Has been raining more or less non-stop for 36hrs, and as I write, rodding it down driven by blustery S.Westerly so hard I can hear it on the roof from here. Minor flooding on ground floor, which is below street level on one side. Running under this street, there is a well known beck which has risen up through slated floor.
The way it is.
