A very dreary day here. It was drizzling for much of the afternoon and visibility has been surprisingly poor for the time of year. Not that warm either.

I'm pleased to be able to report that I was proved wrong and it did rain, not heavily but persistently and for quite some time - and there may be more. As the wind had dropped right away the moisture has been able to get into the ground with the minimum of rainshadow or the frustrating sight of evaporation as soon as it hits the ground which has happened so much over the past months. Tomorrow looks as if it will be cool and damp, not nice for humans but plant and much animal life will welcome it.

Or shall we start a new thread for acronym expansion possibilities, with yours being the first entry?
We had the slug and snail disposal unit (which I almost got right) recently.

Don't tempt fate Pulc - he's had two threads closed in less than a week - any they could have a 3 strikes and out rule!

Going to be a rather wet day today, I think. Certainly overcast right now.

My brain didn't process that correctly the first time round and I was thinking 'haven't we enough Sturm und Drang to be getting on with' but coming back to it I picked up the 'e' in lightening...
The current weather - grey and damp/wet - is good news for the garden but has done nothing for mental clarity so far today.

Just grey here, but no doubt the damp and wet is on its way.

That means it must have leapfrogged your region somehow, cloughie - it began drizzling here at about 8 last night, and continued through the night. At six this morning I peered outside and curtains of moderate rain were falling through still misty air. As of now we are in some temporary sort of break, but the air is almost saturated, sky not clearing of low clag, and I can't see the London Eye from this window, at only 6 miles away. The 17.5 C it currently is feels oppressive. Ah, I now see it has started raining again, the sky darkening from the SW.

We're stuck with this until it clears on Friday. With any luck, high pressure should build over the southern part of the UK, giving all but N Ireland and Scotland a couple of days of warmish sunshine.

Rather pleasant on my afternoon bike ride just now. Quite a muggy 20C but with a pleasant breeze - zephyr comes to mind. The sun poked through bravely for the first time today. Now gone again.
