But not my bit, despite the Met Office's rather quaint 'sunny spells widely'. It's been a procession of grey bits(can't say shades of grey now) some slightly leaky. Not too bad for some heavy duty gardening though - stripping turf to loose lay some slabs. Despite the recent quite respectable rain much of the soil is still dust dry where it isn't set like concrete(the joy of compacted silt being impermeable, lacking the cracks that clay develops), so the damping down stops it flying around too much.

For the time being, yes - the more usual "zonal" (west-to-east predominating) pattern - though temporary blockage is expected midway through next week, with hot continental tropical air coming back up from the SE, and temperatures expected to climb into the upper twenties/low thirties celsius, before "typical British summer weather takes over by the following weekend. Hopefully next Friday will still be fine - we're having a resident's association meeting in the garden that evening.

                      That'll be a lonely affair.

                      Just off to pedants' corner.

Warm, and sunny here at present, but there are some interesting clouds around that suggest taking a waterproof with me might be sensible when/if I go out later.

Just heard the BBC's lunchtime weather forecast on R4 - 'temps in Northern England in and around 20C.
I go to check the garden therm: 16C.
                            In an edgy, chillyish westerly.

                            Ahem.

It looks as though that low-pressure system isn't going to behave quite as 'normal' (e.g. West to East) but is going to lurk in the North Atlantic.
I wonder how that blocking High over Western Europe will behave? And how long will it stay? I suspect the forecasters may be hedging their bets.
