No sunrise here, glorious or otherwise, just a grudging lightening of the sky. Wet and windy, although mild. Trouble is the damp and gloom mean that in the house the subjective thermometer says it's chilly, even though the objective one says not.

Low raggedy cloud trundling across, visiblity varying as periodic spasms of drizzle pass through - wind is getting up, as expected, and one or two heavy showers on the way I expect. Teamsaint is right to an extent - Sunday shouldn't be too bad after some heavyish frontal rain has passed through first thing in the morning; there could be a shower or two around, but mostly affecting southern and western coasts down here. Monday into Tuesday looks set for some stormy weather, especially for England, N Ireland and Wales, with Scotland in colder air, which will spread right across on Monday into Tuesday. But from then on the predictions are for a buoyant normal December temperatures westerly type, with election day turning wet from the west during the afternoon and evening.

Fine and relatively still here at the moment, but due to get windy and wet tonight. Hope it stays fine for the village lights switch-on this evening.

Just as well it's this evening then, cloughie - the gales forecast have it seems been brought forward to tomorrow afternoon and evening, and into Monday morning, particularly in your neck of the woods.

Yes I know - have a semi-outdoor event tomorrow afternoon which may be draughty!

a.m. UK weather forecasts kept promising dry England for this afternoon and evening
                  Really?
OK, so it's been raining on and off all day.

www.yr.no predicted rain up here all day. They are right.

Light cloud, with a gentle breeze today.

Wild night here - woken by fierce wind and rain drumming on roof.

A very strong gust blew all my outside potted plants over an hour ago, as a shower passed through. De-potted soil and naked roots everywhere - imagine having to clear all that up in a mini-gale! It suddenly felt remarkably cold - in fact the temperature had fallen from 11C to 5C in maybe five minutes! All the windows instantly steamed up, as if I'd just emerged from the bathroom after taking a shower.

It looks likely we're all in for a roller-coaster of a week weatherwise - particularly bad gales this afternoon and tonight for Wales and the SW, and everywhere, just about, on Tuesday. This pattern looks set right up to Christmas - no snow expected, apart from on the peaks in Wales and Scotland.

Bright, breezy and dry today, and not too cold thanks to the wind direction. Managed to get two loads of washing out with a useful amount of drying accomplished. Monday looks set to be parky but bright so I think I'll take advantage of a rearranged Monday schedule and go into the city; there is a local artists exhibition to look round, and a small hearthrug to look for. Time was I would have gone into the excellent record shop and found myself a christmas present as well, but - ususal story - that closed due to increased costs and decreased demand.

Any laundry would have had to have been nailed onto the line in order not to have ended up in Margate from the squall we had!

I'll admit I did have to peg quite thoroughly, and a certain amount of disentangling had to occur when I brought it in - sleeves were arm in arm and a pair of jeans had got a leg over(so to speak) - something that tends to occur more with rotary driers.

Well, it's here now - and with a vengeance! Wild rain, wild winds, roofs drumming.
