Such a fine day here, completely cloudless.

Well, not quite, BBM, but warm enough to make the most of until Sunday, at which point the weather is predicted to break down in dramatic thunderstorm fashion, announcing an onset of "zonal", ie westerlies-based weather, which means (at last!!!) a return to the sort of changeability we typically think of as "British weather", namely: plenty of wind and rain, temperatures back to late September averages.

Might be of tiny interest to note that this time last year, up here anyway, we were enduring mighty winds, violent gusts and sheets and sheets of rain.
TODAY, however, I have had to water the garden because it has been sufficiently hot and drying for four days!!
          Ahem.............

Well, today was announced as to be "probably the last warm weather of 2019" by this morning's BBC TV forecaster! It certainly looks that way from what is foreseeable, but I have myself frequently made the same assumption at around this time of year, when a qualitative change of régime seems imminent and probably un-budgeable, only to be followed a week or two by a return of southerlies and above-average temperatures. If not, I made a mistake today, staying at home and basking on the lawn to make the most of what is left of the free Vitamin D the sun has so generously been providing this summer, instead of heading out on t'bike into the countryside. It didn't reach the predicted 25/26C here, just a comfortable 21C.

I think here it was probably the first of a number of wet Cornish autumn days!

Got up to the mid 20s around here. A perfect autumn day.

Posted this yesterday? Yeah, well, this a.m. was woken by thunderous storm of heavy and still going rain on the roof.
                  Serves me right.

Yes - a fortnight of decent weather came to an end this morning: chucking it down, and so dark! Pretty much as the Met Office forecast - which is promising, as at least some extended periods of sunshine is forecast scattered around the week to come.

A great day yesterday. We had a wander round town yesterday, in Bognor Regis. Would love to live here. Rather a mixed bag, weather wise, I think, today is going to bring.

Not with Thomas Cook, I hope!

Fine, very warm and dry up here. Barely a breeze.
                            BUT
this evening - eg now - ominous cloud and mizzle.

A large cluster of intense thunderstorms is encroaching on Cornwall now as I write, presumably associated with the cold front, which is expected to swing east right across the country tomorrow, slowing down as it does so to become virtually stationary in the North Sea by afternoon. If this is an MSC I would envisage it sustaining itself as it spreads NE across the West Country and Midlands during the night, to reach us here in the SE in time for the morning rush hour. MSC's can keep themselves going, unlike your usual single cell storms, which usually die out within the hour. We might be talking flooding in a number of places.

It's now reached the Exeter area.

Met Office for Tuesday in my neck of the woods
Heavy rain, persistent in places, with gusty torrential thundery downpours through morning.
Hmm, sounds as if it might be wet and windy!
