          Lancastrian.

(But, as the Yorkshire Day Declaration says "all persons born therein or resident therein and loyal to the Ridings are Yorkshiremen", I can claim the status <hurrah>. But my Lancastrian accent cannot!)

I've got a lingering Scouse accent (from when L'Pool was in Lancs.) overlaid with a tinge of Sheffield. Where does that leave me?

Today looks like being the last half decent day here for the foreseeable future. Low temperatures, wind and rain appear to be what we can expect for the rest of August. It's been a mediocre summer at best, and there's already an autumn feel in the air.

Totally agree. Oddly already back to wearing clothes combos that I usually wear in November - March.

Good place to be, Britain's best walking neighbourhood:

"It boasts a remarkable 617km of paths, all of which are well signposted and maintained."

That does sound remarkable, how did it get so many paths?

Wow! I hadn't heard about that, wonder what the criteria are? Unfortunately I have mobility problems so can't test it out.

I would have thought the Best Neighbourhood Walking Award would have required at least some provision for mobility vehicles etc., Lez. Isn't there any way of finding out?

The probability of the rough weather expected this weekend kicking off this evening down here puts the kybosh on my attendance at a gig near Waterloo tonight I'd been looking forward to. On the one hand I don't wish to face heavy rain cycling home, and on the other I am becoming nervous about travelling by late night Tube these days.
