    Raining here too, but warm.
Short-sleeved shirt, no jacket, but brolly called for as I head off to skool for my morning volunteer stint: Year 6 play rehearsal this morning, I think!

Storm didn't materialise here last night - just further east, more limited in strength and extent than had been predicted, so there's a lot of discussion on the weather site I visit: one theory going that the intial cell south of Cherbourg that was expected to drift our way becamer so strong it sucked all the availble energy needed for storms into itself, disrupting the shortwave expected to act as conveyor for its north-east trajectory. That's left the air so saturated it feels like a sauna out there; only a few degrees drop in temperature would hit the dewpoint and we'd have fog. But you should see how high dewpoints reach in tropical forest regions, where temperatures at night often don't go below 28 degrees C, especially in the rainy season!

Yesterday was really unpleasant - hot, humid and oppressive. At work visitors were glad to escape into the cool building, although the family groups found themselves having to brave the wider site as the children were less affected.
Despite all the feeling of imminent storms and the weather warnings it was calm overnight and the rain when it came wasn't too heavy. There were a few cracks and flashes and a couple of cloudbursts during the morning but that cleared at lunchtime, and now the clouds are breaking up and the wind is rising so surface wetness is drying out quite quickly.
I'm a little concerned about blight risk for my tomatoes, but don't think I'll look it up!

As rough as early March here.

Well you talked that one up nicely SA! I noticed the temperature had dropped sharply in the evening and then sometime just before 8pm I looked out and noticed that the nearby fields and trees had disappeared. If we weren't 40 miles inland I'd have called it a sea fret. Visibility was really low and I was glad not to be driving.

Nice to have "reasonable temperatures" back again - at least for the time being. Saturday looks like being a hot 'un, but then winds should swing back round to the SW, blowing away all that additional Continental fug that's still around, (at least for the time being), and leaving us with just our home-grown pollution to worry about!

A brisk NE wind has been driving temperatures down through the day, not helped by the lack of sun. Settled out at low teens, which apparently may well stay that way until late afternoon tomorrow, with the wind chill taking it down to 10 degrees. Flamin' June! The high pollen levels just add to the general fun.

There's lots of youtube footage of the remarkable tropical style thunderstorm that hit Eastbourne 2 nights ago before heading up over E Kent and on across East Anglia, just missing us here. As they always warn on telly, there are lots of flashing images on here! Approximately 4 minutes in the rain resembles a waterfall, but pedestrians seem just to be going about their ambulations as if nothing's going on!

I think this must be the one BBM slept through!

I’m not looking forward to the heatwave.

I had to wear my winter jacket to tied the sweet peas that had been battered nearly to the ground by the east wind. Heart wave?

Only about eight hours on Saturday.
