I hadn't wanted or needed to be awake at 5-30 am but it did give me the chance to watch the transition from night sky to day sky, which was colourful this morning and unsullied by contrails. Yesterday's early sky, which was a lovely shading from pink through to pale blue, enhancing the frosting from a sharp frost, got comprehensively veiled and didn't clear again until late morning.
If the grass dries out again as well as it did yesterday I'll get the mower out; the apology for a lawn has so much coarse grass that it quickly gets tufty and untidy even this early in the year.

The contrast with last year! Does anyone know if this is the biggest difference in temperatures between the same month a year apart?

Not only perfect weeding weather, but so warm, I needed my Summerweight gardening garb. Lovely, lovely day.

The whole Uni seemed to be sitting outside in Highfield today. Couldn’t put a pin between ‘em even if I had that rather strange urge.

We are being thoroughly spoilt so far this week. I see the weather may turn next week?

Tomorrow I'm afraid BBM (if it's not too late for a quick spin on the chair!). Yesterday I actually sunbathed for an hour! Today I've left that a bit late, but at least have used the conditons to rectify a constant problem with my bike's saddle, which means no more will it suddenly be tipping up backwards!

The rain has returned to the Duchy, but we’ve had a good few days. The Lizard was great yesterday - lovely atmosphere, a bit of mist and a slightly choppy sea but the sun coming through also - I’d guess aound 16 degrees.

And what a difference a day makes! Got caught out in a shower this morning - luckily with my waterproof quilted jacket on for today's cooler temperatures (max 12 C). A large very black cloud is looming up from the west right now - the lady forecaster had spoken of showers, but these are strong cumulonimbus clouds, and thunder wouldn't surprise me at all.

No rain up here yet but really thick low cloud / mist / fog accumulating...................and then @ 7.58.......more or less GONE! Weird or what?

Looks like there's a large chance of one this year, which will stir up the circulation patterns and increase rainfalls selectively once more!

Lovely day today now the low cloud's broken up - very clear visibility for the first time since the "heatwave" - all in readiness for tomorrow's big blow, expected to affect much of the Uk apart from Scotland.

I found a rat in one of our empty wheely bins this morning - a huge fat brown one the size of a squirrel - scampering around the bottom trying to run up the sides. I decided the best thing was to tip the bin over, but by the time I'd moved the other 8 bins to make space, the fella had managed to escape, probably through a hole on one of the corners at the top which is not supposed to be there; but goodness knows how he succeeded: rats don't have sticky pads on their feet, unlike flies!

Absolutely thrashing it down / big wind up here. And it looks like only the start!
