We might as well be on another planet here as there has not been so much as a flake of snow in these parts. It's been very cold and there have been heavy frosts but of the white stuff - nothing!

About the same here as well! Cold and sunny.

No snow here yesterday. Quite sunny Infact, rather blustery later.

Drove north on M6 to Tebay and amazingly, Penrith and surroundings fells seemed almost snowless. Yet twenty miles south, frozen and dangerous.

Beautiful day today down here - warm enough in the sunshine almost not to require the coat I had on, even though there are still patches of now crystallized snow on sheltered north facing aspects, where the temperature appears not to have reached freezing point, even though it managed a comfortable 3 Degs C. here.

One more night of frost - maybe, though low level cloud is now starting to mass, which heralds the milder weather to come, for the forseeable future!

It may go down as low as 8 overnight here.

That's great news, BBM - as also is knowing you won't be needing to put the skis under it, or hiring in a team of huskies!

What a good idea, if needed!

Wild, wet and windy earlier, seems to have calmed down now but I expect there’ll be more. SA?

Yes I would think so - but not too much. Rain, that is, not thinking!

Lovely day in this bit of the Pennines - I was all togged up appropriately for the weather of the past week, only for clear, sunny skies and a temperature of 8 degrees! I was far too hot for the beginning of February - but I'm not complaining!

What a difference a day makes as they say. Yesterday was a 'good' winter day - very cold, but wall to wall sunshine; today started out grey, wet, windy - and mild, but very slow to brighten in any way. My birthday present olive tree has gone back outside again, and with any luck it can stay out for the next few days. Next winter I shall have to find some way of protecting it so that I don't have to repeat this in and out caper between the back steps and the kitchen.
