Thunder and lightning right overhead here as I write, plus quite heavy hail. Gosh - I wasn't expecting this at all! To be fair (on me), neither were the offiicial sources, who had been talking about a few light showers!

It's not often I get caught out in this way.

Sunny in this bit of the Pennines this afternoon - mostly clear skies. Chilly, of course, but very mild for this time of year; 5 degrees outside at the moment.

Very gusty winds here as predicted, but bright and clear. Got out for a reasonable walk in the sunshine.

A truly dreadful day yesterday with heavy rain, better today but with a strong wind. Heavy snow forecast here for Tuesday/Wednesday. On the bright side, we are now gaining 3 minutes extra daylight each day.

Not too bad at the beginning of the day, but about an hour ago the wind really ramped up and it started to rain. Now really unpleasant with the temperature having plummeted as well - so glad I don't have to go anywhere. Just hoping no damage overnight.
"Relatively high uncertainty" is the phrase that precedes the outlook for the week ahead on the Met Office site. Reckon that should cover it! What is certain is that it's going to be cold and unpleasant.

Bother those people. There must be the old ways of forecasting the weather. Lovely day here but cold outside.

Oh if by that you mean actually going outside and looking up, sticking a finger up, checking the barometer, I do do all that, BBM! Usually, approaching thunderstorms announce themselves with no uncertainty. The problem yesterday was large amounts of low-level "clag" obscuring more important things going on at higher levels, so that the lightning, when it came, was like a bolt out of the amorphous grey!

Anyway, it is lovely out there today - cold but clear as a bell with only one tiny cloud visible. Tomorrow looks cloudy, and still quite cold, with rain followed by sleet, and just possibly snow, following by the early hours. Just as long as it doesn't get going until after dark, as I am due to meet a good friend at a gig in Croydon early in the afternoon, the only way of getting there being by bike!

Sunshine and showers sums up today so far. The showers are of the wintry kind, varying between semi solid rain and roper snow flakes, but none lasts for any length of time so not a problem. Cold thanks to wind chill bigging up already low temperatures. Got sore hands a while ago moving something in the garden(not gardening just doing a recce after last night's storm) which tipped water all over - hands immediately felt full benefit of aforementioned wind chill!

I’m picking up a new chariot today! Yes! One of those electronic power wheelchair jobs! We be going to a place called Stone Gate, which is near Eastbourne. So I’m hoping for good weather this morning! It will probably be a 40 minute drive? SA.

Rather more in the new chariot, I suggest? Isn’t there a speed limit on those winged efforts?

Perhaps a petition via the Duke of Hazard?

A quiet cold morning so far, pretty clouds over a glacial blue sky. The forecast suggests that nastinesss won't reach us until early evening, so I'll try and get out for a bit of a constitutional before lunch. It won't do much for my cold but it will raise my spirits the better to deal with it and the associated arthritic party.
The Wednesday volunteer gardening will be off this week; even without my cold, there would be little if anything to be done with the temperatures so low - 'earth stood hard as iron' indeed.

Thickest, wettest snow - more like white rain than snow. Streets almost flooded rather than icy, but treacherous underfoot nevertheless.

Well, if you are, look out for conditions on the return journey - nasty stuff coming your way by tonight, I'd suggest.

It now looks likely that Thursday to Saturday is going to be a period of pretty nasty conditions wherever one happens to be in the UK, but that Monday begins the process of a return to a more Atlantic-influenced weather regime, following a cold start, with temperatures returning to where they should be, or even slightly above. Then we'll see the crocuses coming out and joining their friends the snowdrops.

... many thanks for that cheering prospect! Much appreciated.
