Super smashing. I will add it to this week's horror movie list. I got myself kitted out in Milletts, Ipswich, big time. A lovely woman of similar age who let me hang my trousers up on the heater as it had just opened before genuinely wanting to talk family trees for 45 minutes and giving me a 17.5% discount although she wasn't allowed to. Shame a zip has now broken.

Arctic winds, even snow is being forecast for top areas up here on w/end.
Tonight was perfect - moon, stars, still, bright.

This thread seems to have a chequered history, I think. People probably think not much going on, weather wise, so not much point in contributing to this thread?

A cloudy day today I think?

Tail winds on flights to and from The Canaries have been cutting flights times by up to 30 minutes - a significant saving on 4.5 hours Bumpy landing at Leeds Bradford last night with passengers having to be bussed into the terminal, but not as bad as one recent arrival that had to be diverted to Manchester at the last minute. It's a reminder that LBA is Britain's highest airport above sea level with an elevation of 208m.
And the tune ends too soon for us all

Like the weather itself, it's always there, to be remarked on and discussed - or not.

                Indeed!

Certainly colder now. In the depths of autumn. Reminds me of that movement from Sir Arnold Bax’s Spring Fire, Woodland Romance. Quite autumnal in feel.

Autumn has been proceeding much as usual here - plenty of sunshine to offset some chilly winds. The arrival of soggier weather will make lower temperatures more obvious but on the plus side will prevent night frost for a little while yet with any luck. Tomatoes have been gathered, but beans for seed saving are still on the poles for a bit more drying; my fleeces and woollies are down from the loft(hopefully sans livestock of the hole-generating variety).

Lovely clear atmosphere in the arctic air now arrived - together with nice big puffy cumulus clouds, first time in a while since we've seen those - and even an anvil cloud to the west, with what looks like soft hail curtains from its base. 8.5 degrees Celsius now, so it's on with the puffa to face the sorts of temperatures which would be more normal in December than now, as I pedal down to the shops. We really have been lucky to have enjoyed extended summer temperatures here, up to yesterday.

Just started raining. Fortunately I've already been for a walk. The sun was out then, though that was balanced by a cold wind. I ended up taking my coat off.

Beautifully crisp, sunny Autumn day here in this bit of the Pennines: mostly blue sky the colours glowing; and yes, chilly - nudged below 10 degrees in the daytime for the first time since April(-ish).

                            .

... it seems that each time I venture northwards the weather puts on its more forbidding aspect.

This weekend we're heading for North Yorkshire...

A warm welcome awaits Temperature down to 1 deg C early this am. Snow and sleet at 8 ish - oh, and a 20 minute power cut, but never mind about that. Repair times are improving
