    Peter Sallis 1921-2017 RIP

Will be remember as Clegg and for Walliace and Gromit, but he was just the superbly professional actor who could take on a role and deliver it with precision. RIP Peter.

What a voice! Just the word 'Technotrousers' and I'm away.

      Cracking good innings, Gromit.

        Sad news.

I have always been keen on "Last of the Summer Wine" and "Wallis and Gromit".

He had a distinctive voice so it was odd (though understandable) that occasionally it could be confused with the equally distinctive voice of Peter Jones. It is, of course, significant that there isn't a new voice of that kind to replace them. He was the only consistent cast member of "LOTW" but also while he had considerable work prior to 1973 - that is an interesting read - he was someone who was very well known to the general public for 40 odd years, having only come to the attention of many people when he was in his fifties.

        RIP Peter Sallis

What sad newsindeed. But what an age. The same as when my late father died two years last month. Bless both of them.

I often mixed the film sequences for Last of the Summer Wine, and from time to time Peter Sallis and the others came in to do extra voice overs or re-record some lines. Bill Owen was quite amazingly dapper, always beautifully turned out, quite a contrast with that picture up there on the screen. Peter Sallis was very professional, as they all were, it was tempered with a little impatience if there were technical delays, a bit of a moaner but a very likeable one.
