George's passing was mentioned on Record Review this morning. He had contributed several reviews to the programme in the past. After his academic career, George retired to Devon where he organised a series of professional concerts at Powderham Castle. He was instrumental in getting the organ restored there, and jokingly entitled himself 'Kapellmeister'. He will be much missed.
