Very pleasing win for the Foxes.

It made up for a slightly disappointing display at the London Stadium. I enjoyed my evening there even so.

Still can’t make up my mind on the place.

If England get through, they face the winners or runners from group H. About as favourable a draw as we could have hoped for. Above all, it would just be lovely to see a young English side playing with a bit of style.

Group runners up then Poland,Germany and Argentina.

It was genuinely great to see the British-Russian production in its entirety. Presumably we paid for half of it just as with Eurovision. "Korea Republic" to obscure the fact that it is North Korea. "The Islamic Republic" of Iran to highlight at the earliest available opportunity that extreme Islam is only doomed to failure. No wonder it is the British who are called to chair meetings at the United Nations. Forget the window dressing of an overpriced celebrity......there were anonymous types behind the scenes who in a previous life single handedly won the second world war. I quite like Southgate (except when it comes to tax arrangements). He has proven that people with certain kinds of noses can achieve in the workplace after all. As for the draw, yes, it is about as good as it could be for England. Ideally, all of the Panama players would have been in their mid-50s rather than their late 30s - but you can't have it all.

(On a more serious point, Mr Martinez, lovely man, at one time I wanted him to succeed Wenger at Arsenal, but totally clueless on managing defenders, that has to be the key here)

(On a second more serious point, should it be Columbia in R2, they can only be beaten if unnerved, every England supporter should turn up with a Valderrama in his heyday hairdo)

I hope Southgate will stick to his guns by not underestimating the other times in our group.
