Though the Jags were generally outclassed by a second-gear Celtic side they were robbed of a draw by a last-minute penalty decision by the blind referee who was standing only a few yards away. Life can be so unfair.

Manager Archibald has got the lads in good shape, though. The team looks fit and it always tries to play good, attractive football and I think they could finish higher up the table than last season which would be some achievement.

European evenings at Firhill, so closely missed last season, would be the stuff of dreams for some.

Has always been the case when playing either half of the Old Firm, PGT, has it not. It sounded like the Harry Wraggs were always in with a chance. The Saints are down in lovely, sunny Greenock for a meeting with nice Morton this afternoon.

Arsenal v Leicester City. Exciting game for goals and some pretty one touch football from Arsenal! Arsenal cannot rely on always outscoring the opposition as their defence is all over the place. Sadly Peter Cech is nowhere near the keeper that he was.

Thanks Rob. We were on a hiding to nothing today. Eric is a St Mirren fan who lives in Liverpool. He's been in touch with Danny Baker's show over the last while when he's going to a game. Since April 2000 he has seen 52 Buddies' games and has not seen them win. Eric phoned Baker this morning to say he was heading for the game at Cappielow...53 and counting!

Thanks for a terrific round up ER. Glad you got something out of the game after being 2 down.

Not a bad game at SMS, but Saints can't afford to keep throwing away wins against mediocre sides . I wouldn't be surprised to see a few incomings and outgoings after that, before the window shuts.

Still, our start looks positively healthy compared to Palace. No doubt they'll get it together soon.
And as for the Buddies.....what a shocker !!

Eagles grounded by Terriers. An embarrassingly inept and inauspicious start for South London's Number One.
