At Man Utd, Lukaku obviously in many ways but adjustment and all that and the lack of hat tracks? Rashford alongside? Perhaps. Mourinho chops and changes, especially in defence. There's a new guy there too - taken by 17% - but what the betting a Smalling doesn't play more?

As for assists. Mata is the obvious but injured which leaves Pogba and Herrera. City - we think Sterling is underrated. But to Jesus or Aguero? Only the good lord knows. Liverpool is so overwhelmed by riches that no one is guaranteed a constant placing - - even Coutinho. Spurs - who could not say yes to Kane, Alli and Eriksen except the early games are not especially easy and could Alli surprisingly bomb like last season's Mahrez? What of Mahrez now? Not happy but a revival? Chelsea now have a new forward but success fatigue? Hazard is injured.

Might just be the time for Willian and Pablo to shine. The Gunners? Much depends on Lacazette as the future of Sanchez is so questionable. Elsewhere we like McCauley - injured - on balance the West Brommers should be in goal - and Mawson of Swansea in defence and there may just be something to be said for Ramsey in midfield. Southampton have a good lead in but what price really for Redmond and Tadic and even Gabbiadini or Austin upfront? Like Ritchie for Newcastle but he is injured and Dummett is ok in defence. Have to have someone from the Toon. Dunk for Brighton? Also, quite like Huddersfield's Mooy. Bournemouth's Josh King or Defoe might be worth a punt. Everton have a lousy start and can Rooney really deliver? How often will Holgate be played at 4.5? Apologies for not having every name here or indeed the names included correctly written but I am too tired to do my usual checking.

Yeah, yeah....I've done it now - it's Riedewald, Lindelof and Morata respectively!
Never mind the Prem, Lat - what about the other end of the Pyramid - are you ready for the National North's forum derbies?

      Scottish League Cup

(Having now checked out how this format works,Apparently the teams get a bonus point for winning a penalty shoot out as well as the point for the draw.
The 8 group winners and 4 best runners up are joined by the teams playing in Europe later in the competition.)

Inverness Caledonian Thistle 0 Falkirk 2
Queen's Park 3 Edinburgh City 0 Forum derby
Partick Thistle 5 St Mirren 0 Forum derby

        You're quicker than I.
I've only just worked out how the Scottish Premiership works, and why a team in the bottom half of the table can end up with more points than one on the top half.

As far as Scottish Football is concerned these days desperate stakes require pretty desperate measures.

Tbf, the recent reforms have done something to make the leagues more interesting even it will never change the stark reality of complete predictability at the very top.

Commiserations to JC following the Buddies' 5-0 thumping by the truly majestic Jags. One TV commentator compared the latter to Brazil. Now, come on, we mustn't get too carried away this early in the season ...

Hope your team bounces back, John ... at least they were slightly better in the second half than the first? Only slightly, mind you. The fine folk of Paisley deserve much better than that.

As ready as the situation requires.

The latest is that being in Division 6 has proved to be no barrier to demolishing the historical infrastructure and hence the club's soul:

But we've been here before - it was called Highbury to the Emirates.

                  Foster, Myhill
                  Trippier, Naughton, Alonso, Robertson, Riedewald
                  Zaha, Ritchie, Iwobi, Willian, Coutinho
                  Jesus, Benteke, Aguero

(Based on early fixtures and limited finances - still subject to change - eg possibly Naughton to Dunk; Iwobi/Benteke could go to Redmond and another Saint - Austin?)

Thanks Rob. No footie players on the beaches of the West Coast this year. We're concentrating on the league as I would have told PGT in our defence of the drubbing by the Maryhill Magyars. Perth Saints for them in the next round.

And well done you England -- France were a tough proposition but you persisted, got people forward, got a well-worked goal and defended like lions (I do find calling them Lionesses a bit patronising).

Frustratingly, I'll be at a Prom this Thursday (sacrilege on this forum to say that, I know) so I'll tape the semi-final and do a Likely Lads-style exercise to avoid finding out the result -- somehow I doubt it will be a hot topic of conversation in the Albert Hall bars, but one can never be too careful :-)

                                Thanks I think.

Ferney mentioned Grassington the other day. Actually I have seen a football pitch in Grassington. What league are Grassington in? 15? Perhaps York can restart there!

One definition of private management not deserving its money - Neymar goes to PSG for £200m but can't play yet because people forgot to complete the paperwork.

Congratulations to Liverpool for having nearly every one of their goal scoring players injured - it is usually Arsenal but there is still plenty of time for that still to be so!
