Going to be a long season for us both Alison. Although it could be over very early for us I suppose !!

I was there today, decent game, and Saints did well despite not having that much of the ball. Characteristic defensive mistakes cost us dear, along with a bit of bad luck. But we scored a fine team goal, and there were more positive signs. But we will need a little winning run to get some momentum, and that is very hard to do in the PL. Enjoyable( ish) afternoon.

Alison - I think the Foxes have made a Ruudy good choice. MU would have benefited from keeping him on their bench with his previous but clearly that sort of thing counts for nothing in this sweep out, sweep in world. Very much Leicester’s gain.

Thanks Cloughmeister, it was a welcome appointment for me and most of the fanbase. You kind of associate the guy with success. Might have a few contacts to bring in a couple of decent players in January …

Good progress for the Owls I see. Now let’s switch on to see how Sainty’s men are getting on.

Saints delighted to come home from Sussex with a point( which might have been three but for the dreaded VAR ) after a poor first half display.
chelsea await in midweek, and we have a huge list of certain absentees through injury and suspension.
Set up for the fashionable “ low block” looks inevitable.

Good wins up north for Hartlepools and the Owls .

2-0 reverse against Big Jim Goodwin's Arabs yesterday - very disappointing. Still sixth.

Eddie Howe was bitterly disappointed not to take three points away from Selhurst, despite his team having no shots on target. (They would have won by a cross unluckily deflected as an own goal by Marc Guéhi.) Not as disappointed as Palace would have been not to at least have snatched a thoroughly deserved draw right at the end, having largely dominated the game and had 16 shots on target.
