....Ah well, the final broth has been cooked up....we see Spain brought meat and vegetables....England only gave some of that nasty giant sweetcorn (the type they put in dog food)....

I think there's a chance - but only a small one - that I might still be around when England finally win that 2nd international tournament.

I would have thought it’s much more linked to the excessive alcohol intake around these tournaments. I have no idea why we celebrate all these fan zones where beer is consumed in vast quantities. It’s not for nothing that the temperance movements were largely supported by women (including the suffragettes ) , socialists and Methodists amongst others. Pre WW1 alcohol abuse and consequent domestic abuse were national scandals . Then came the wartime restrictions on pub opening and a consequent decline in consumption per head .Alcohol has done vastly more societal damage than any other controlled substance yet it’s available every where.

          Let’s be clear to start.

Football does not cause abuse. Perpetrators choices do.

Its suggested that any stressful situation can trigger violence in someone prone to it

. Didn't the "great and good" used to think it was mainly a problem among the "lower orders"?

Apparently Gareth has handed in his notice to the FA. They passed it to Bellingham,he passed it sideways to Kane who passed it back to the keeper!

...." Harry Kane had offered all the mobility, touch and spring of a rain-sodden hay bale"....was one of the funniest quotes I recall....

....I hear the manager of GB Morris Dancing Assoc is coming out of contract....his HR skills in relaxing his players so much that they don't even feel the need to put bells on their ankles or attack each others hazel sticks when marching in line has given his lads a lovely rest from the pressures of life - his main draw back is that even after 8 years, he never did find a way to really exploit the waving of hankerchieves that could really be described as effective at all.....

....I have alway thought that Steve the Bruce should really have been born Scots.....no one can stand motionless in the technical area better....

....Mr Bruce of course has been successful....he is a millionaire....
