Irvine Welsh writes a love letter to his all-time favourite Hibernian player, the Frenchman Franck Sauzee

Rangers dumped their manager last night...clearly couldn't stand being behind the Buddies at this stage of the season. I hope they're not thinking of trying to tempt the Scotland manager...wouldn't put it past them - they've got history on that one.
I am ashamed to say I had never heard of him, or had forgotten I had heard of him but met a lad on holiday who was singing his praises. Thank you as always John a wonderful love letter …..

but maybe one thing I would disagree with Docherty’s view on Bobby Moore …. he was the greatest I ever saw on a snowy night in Coventry …. anticipation, fearsome in the tackle and distribution to die for ….. and who in 66 in the 120th minute wouldn’t have kicked it out of Wembley ….

Somewhat unconvincing three points for us tonight. Baby steps. Defence is starting to look a bit more settled and convincing ( it could hardly have looked less) , and the manager seems to have opted for evolution rather than revolution for now. A
We have improvement in us , and plenty of talent, but improving enough for the big prize this season already looks a big ask.
at least JWP seems to have left us a few notes on taking free kicks……

Leicester City 3 Preston North End 0

An even first half before the Foxes asserted after the break.

Making it all look rather straightforward, Alison.
not something one can say for Cloughie’s Owls, unfortunately.

Saints ability to disappoint their fans in home matches continues to set high standards.
no tickets for me till WBA in November.

Great result, anton. Hoping the Buddies can get something out of Rangers in rainy Paisley this lunchtime. I imagine they are celebrating the memory of the Buddies' much-loved forward, Frank McDougall, who died this last week at 65.

At least we stemmed the tide under our reliable under 21 coach as caretaker manager and players he knows took the first steps to work on the deficit. However we do have to wait until we have the next decision on a new manager - the track record of our owner is not good in that area.

                          The spirit of the game:

St Machar Thistle AFC started with just eight players and lost 51-0 to AC Mill Inn Academy in the first round of the Scottish Amateur Cup.

It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

Good run continues though Stoke not much of a side these days.

Shame Toon didn’t see off Hammers.
