Excellent, gurney. Sadly, but not unexpectedly, Buddies humped by Celtic four to nothing...down to seventh...next up, Dundee in the cup on Saturday.

out of the zone, anton. Another three points for the cloughie's mob, I notice.
Buddies squeezed into the 'Round of 16', as Radio Scotland's sport bulletin termed it yesterday evening. Scoreless after 120 mins Carson the Goalie saved the first three Dundee pens to send the Buddies through...to the fourth round.

Putting nine men on the pitch - effectively - seems to be a plan already adopted at St Mary's...

Huge result up here as non-league Darvel Juniors knocked Aberdeen out of the Cup. Biggest upset in many a long day. Great game. Big Jim Goodwin has Badloss.

Yes indeed, ts. The game was on live on the BBC Scotland Channel last night. I was very impressed with the way that Darvel saw the game out. After the game the goalscorer, Jordan Kirkpatrick was asked if they would be having a few beers this evening and he said, 'I need to phone my boss to see if he'll let me off. I'm supposed to be working tonight.' Then they interviewed the Darvel goalie asking the same question, and he said, 'I don't think so. I'm working in school in the morning.' Falkirk await them in the fourth round, back at Darvel. Here's the highlights from Ayrshire:
Jordan Kirkpatrick's first-half goal gives sixth-tier Darvel a historic victory over seven-time winners Aberdeen.

Biggest cup upset in Scotland, perhaps, since Berwick knocked Rangers out in 1967.

                        Deserved win for Newcastle tonight.
Saints are an absolute shambles. No threat, woeful defence. Not a good combination.

Fans not keen on Bednareks return, but he really can’t make us worse.

Saturday afternoon at SMS for me today.
The usual patchy effort by our lads, but we were at least rewarded with a competitive game, and two excellent goals. Perraud’s free kick was a thunderbolt effort

Nous sommes dans le chapeau, as our MOM would doubtless say.

A glance through the results, and I noticed that the Paisley Saints did very nicely.

A handy three points takes us into the top six, saint, and ten clear of automatic relegation. Next up is Aberdeen midweek. The Dons were scudded six zilch by Hibs, that after their trouncing by Hearts last week and the cup humiliation against Darvel on Monday - that was enough to see the manager get his coat, as Goodwin defied his nominative determinism once too often. We'll probably get a stuffing.
