Which puts the Grecians two points behind with five games to go, and momentum arguably on their side. It's going to be close, but at least it's looking more likely that there won't have be a pointless visit to Wembley this year.
Maybe it's not going to be that close. Losing 0-2 at Tranmere doesn't quite mean the alarm bells are ringing, but there need to be wins against Rochdale and Barrow, both capable of putting up a fight, given that the games against Port Vale and Northampton could end up as six-pointers with automatic promotion at stake.

My best Easter watching the Saints, was at all three games :

      Saturday. 3-2 win at Eastville.
Monday 3-2 win home to Cardiff.
That would be in the days of Lawrie Mac - 1978? - No I looked it up ts, my memory is not that good but one flaw in your memory it was Charlton not the Pilgrims for the 4-1 but you were promoted as runners up to Bolton with Spurs, third, sneaking back up to the top flight after a season in Div 2 - ln looking at all teams mentioned here interesting to see how fortunes of clubs have fluctuated over the years. You probably also remember that same season Pompey relegated to Div 4 having finished 24th in Div 3 (Owls were 14th so I would trumpet too loud).

It was Easter '77, the season after our cup win, and almost-heroics in the Cup Winners Cup.

As you'll see Cloughie, my memory was in fact spot on !!

The following season was our promotion season, and as you say, fortunes for a few of our fellow second tier dwellers from that spell have had very differing fortunes, not least Hereford United, as was .

Instand very much corrected but interesting that you should play Cardiff and the Gas at Easter two years running! I guess that defeat of Plymouth effectively ended their stay in Div 2.

With those three games in four days I guess that travel times had to be mimimised. We had some great clashes with Rovers at that time, not always coming out on top. A trip to Eastville was always lively !!

              Owls 1 Crewe 0

Other results around us went in our favour - now 4th - still not toally safe for playoffs but still an outside chance of automatic also. - 3 important games to go!

You could do with the season being extended !! . Got to hope that the top three continue to make a mess of things, and that the Owls keep the great form going.

We pipped the Blades into 2nd in 2012 - now where’s that lightning to strike again! …and I’m sure you’ll be firmly behind us giving Pompey a thrashing in our final match!

Not the best set of results I’ve seen from Forum teams ……

                            But Hangers 0 Swindon 3

So often Hangers end like this

                            But

                            Delia 0 Brazil 3

Joe Linton back at centre forward …. !!!!!!

                              Chairboys 1 Owls 0

All around us got points so -

Back down to 7th, 2 games to go - a few points from them and we are playing off.

Wonder if it's too late to trade our manager in - he came from Morecambe, but it is not looking like it was a wise decision. Only helped by the teams below us drawing with each other. Worried.
