How does 8 league wins a row work ?!?!?

Great stuff ER, the big games just keep on coming.

Big crowd at SMS today for our cup win. A day out watching the womens team for me tomorrow I think.

Much too working class for the Palace
Selhurst Park certainly is the epitome of bourgeois sophistication.

Indeed they did, anton. Saints in that dodgy position of starting to look upwards in the table rather than checking their coat tails. Getting congested in the middle with two points difference between 5th spot and the Buddies in 9th. Next up the Perth Saints midweek.

Loved that goal by Stuart Armstrong for the southern Saints yesterday - could do with a couple of them for Scotland.

Away fans usually enjoy the atmosphere at Selhurst and they seem to have had a good time yesterday, singing louder than the Palace fans at the end - which takes some doing. I read that Palace supported away fans' travel costs and contributed £1000 to Graham Lee's cancer fundraiser. It looks like a good day all round.

That Stuie goal was a corker from almost nothing, with Saints beginning to get the upper hand - though never convincingly in the end - after being overrun in the first half. I have a bottom Ab today from bellowing at all those misplaced rinky-dinky short passes.

Quick reminder - CAF Final tonight at 1900, Sky, BBC3 etc.

Senegal v Egypt, so its Sadio v Mo!

Carlos Queiroz' Egypt have been very defensive, almost as if they really are playing for penalties (Capt. Salah usually takes No.5) from about an hour in (or even earlier), so for the neutral the best thing would be for Mané & co to grab an early goal...
Late goal on the counter from Egypt? 1-0, its over, forget it. They can play alright, but tend to sit back.

But these have undoubtedly been the best teams, with several stars familiar from the European Leagues.

Things can get pretty hot out there..... Queiroz himself was sent off (for, er, "vigorous" dissent ) during the semi-final...but he's never been one to conceal his feelings! Look out for him on the touchline...

                    *****
Lovley bright & breezy FA Cup tie at Anfield just now.....We won 3-1, new guy Diaz got an assist, and how wonderful that after the long injury, young Harvey Elliott (yet another Liverpool Academy product, like TAA etc) returned with a brilliant finish. But well done to Cardiff who really had a go.

Sadio was psyched out at the penalty, jayne. Senegal looking good, but it looks like Salah is right in the mood. Good, competitive first half.

Sensational opening, yes, but Mané went for power and - credit to that ace shot-and-pen-stopper Gabaski - you often see those go in off the glove........

Few clear cut chances despite the tense, tight, tactical contest (shots on target 4-2 Sen-Egypt).... should start to open up soon though....Salah and Mané only need a glimpse...

Senegal turning it on a bit now...Egypt with a triple positive-minded subbing.....gotta concentrate...!

Boreham Wood flying the National League flag at Bournemouth, currently 1-0 up
Hopefully they'll go through and add to their fixture congestion

Wood through 1-0, Everton away next

yeah just saw that.... well done Boreham Wood....!

Still tense and tight at 0-0 in Yaounde....(86')...

So hardly for the first time in this CAF....ET. It ended up pretty much honours-even over the 2nd half.
If it goes to penalties, that's well over 2 and a half hours....phew. I do enjoy (if a touch guiltily) a shoot-out though....probably the movie fan in me.

Pretty poor referee, in my opinion. Egypt's defence so stalwart - no space in that box. Extra time...Sadio's penalty miss even more important given how few chances they have managed to get.

CAF final got a bit harem-scarem in the last 15 didn't it? Ref didn't want to book anyone twice in a final (ah, bless...). Some very tired players out there.....

So penalties it is, for the 3rd time in this tournament....with two very capable keepers....
