I’m not sure if I should announce this, but here goes.

My wife and I couldn’t attend this afternoon's match due to a wedding invitation of a close relative first organised months ago (how was I supposed to know CR7 would be returning?).

We have been made all sorts of offers for the tickets (prime seats behind the goal facing the Stretford End) and we have now sold both tickets and managed to secure a price of £2,400… each. The successful buyers are flying in from Vietnam.

Since I first became a Man Utd supporter when living in London when through my 15-year-old boy’s eyes I was stunned by THAT goal from Bobby Charlton against Mexico in the ’66 World Cup, I have never ceased to be surprised by the astonishing pulling power of that Old Trafford stadium. Even when travelling anywhere, always, always, Man Utd supporters everywhere.

I suppose some comments will be made about “capitalism running riot”, but really, what I do with the money is irrelevant now, since ‘er indoors has already mentally spent it. ☹

Good old Ronaldo, Mario...wonder if Ole'll pick him today. I assume your wife has her eye on a CR7 shirt to celebrate - at this rate she might be able to buy the real one. (Shirt, that is!)

      Thanks John,

It’s actually that wonderful country north of the border that we have to be particularly grateful to, since it was basically Fergie that persuaded Ronaldo to come back to OT.

Just shy of £200 million shirt sales since the announcement and counting… unbelievable.

      Is Kirrie short for Kirriemuir?

Good old Fergie, Mario - you know he only got the sack once in his career...from the Buddies.
Kirriemuir is indeed the longer form of Kirrie - birthplace of JM Barrie and Bon Scott (ACDC) - once a year during Bonfest the Peter Pan statue in the town is fitted out with a denim waistcoat - highlight of the year in pre-covid days.

          Enjoy your soccer today, lads.

A shade concerned about my Foxes v Man City. Maybe Brendan will blood a couple of the potentially exciting new signings.

Agreed. I'll be surprised if you don't get anything.

St Mirren Park remains a neutral zone with yet another goal-free afternoon - up to third from bottom for the Buddies.

                    Well done Hangers

Lucky goal for them but Tielemams, Barnes and Maddison not on their game by all accounts.

At least his own repayments are prompt, Mario.....that's quite a start, and quite unsurprising really... what a legend.

In fairness to the Vietnamese couple, I'm sure it wasn't him that they flew over to see!
