Scotland have been hugely over-praised for a goal-less draw whilst England seemed daunted by the occasion and disappointed us as they almost invariably do. Not a terrible game though - where I live I'm used to those.

England though looked jaded but there is no excuse for not working hard enough.

Why Southgate doesn't pick Grealish is a total mystery to me.

Far too many back and sideways passes from England. Although defended by Shearer, Kane looked as if he had lead boots on. Both Sterling (despite his goal against Croatia) and Rashford are in poor veins of form. Pleased with Mings last night though who had a super game.

I think England have splendid individual players but don't play anywhere near good enough as a team. Finger's crossed that I'm proved wrong.

I can't take any more renditions of 'Flouer o Scotland'.

My son is returning from his Wem-ber-ley trip any time now. I wonder what he thinks.

Tend to agree, gradus. Scottish media and fans were just delighted that they didn't get stuffed, to be honest. I think that Scotland effectively nullified the English forwards, but didn't quite do enough to get past Mings, who I thought was England's best player. As I said earlier, however, last night's result counts for nowt if they don't manage to stick a goal or two in the Croatian net, and that's an ongoing concern.

Chances were pretty even I think ? Agree that Mings was vey good.

The contrast between the football played by all four teams in Group F today, and the dross served up last night is really quite marked. Scotland and England are probably both fortunate to be in one of the weakest groups.

Fantastic game. The first half was as good a 45-minutes of footie as I've seen in many a long day, with the second half just behind - if that bullet from Renato Sanches had gone in we'd have been in for a real grandstand finish.
