Didn't take long for those bizarre results to start up again did it? I mean, Chelsea 2 West Brom 5? Heavens. So much for Herr Tuchel steadying the ship....must be cursing those internationals.
I checked near halftime at 1-0, deciding the garden and Any Answers (I'm addicted, and ending up crying again at some of the Covid testimonies...I do love Saturdays.) was more attractive.

Dread to think whats coming our way later. Anyone volunteering for central defence?

    MotD programmed in then....!

Yes but 2/3 match with 10 men, even of top 4 Prem players doesn’t help against a side fighting for its Prem life.

Looks like a saunter for the Buddies this afternoon as we head merrily into the next round.

You could say Academic - well done, maybe some compensation for missing out on the top half!

Yes, but it can be done, even against the best.....

Sergio Oliveira's 115th-minute strike shocks Juventus to send Porto through in a stunning tie in the Champions League.

Shape, tactics, never-say-die determination..... and one of the greatest CL games I ever saw.
Chelsea's next opponents? Porto of course, on Wednesday...

Remember England's 2-2 against Argentina in France 98, ten men after Beckham's (notorious but very unjust) sending off? Hoddle's 4-4-1 reorganisation was superbly drilled against a side of great attacking flair, to get England through to a controversially-disallowed last-minute goal, extra time and...ah yes..... penalties....

Some good football today. I especially enjoyed the mid-table clash between Arsenal and Liverpool - it's not always the top clubs that produce the best entertainment.

Pains me to say it even through gritted teeth but that 2nd city goal was a bit tasty

............which is why - with him in the side - Belgium are so highly rated. Rightly so.

Rather one-sided wasn't it? But Arsenal were missing several key players, just as we were, and still are. So some sympathy to them.
But what a difference it makes having Fabinho (Neville's MotM) back in midfield. Our press and distribution is so much better with him there, a classic, great No.6 (even though he wears 3...). Hopefully Hendo can rejoin him soon. Hope in the Spring after a very gloomy Winter.

Jota very enlivening too - vital to us now, held back at first because of that forthcoming showdown when he'll probably start. And wonderful to see Trent-Alex's swinging rangefinder back in sharp and influential focus.

(Something of a thriller down at St.Marys...! We await the teamsaint reaction...)
