Getting four points from the last two games was a Houdini act of the first order and should be sufficient but fans will remain nervous to the end.

If not Fulham, who else? Of Burnley, Saints, Toon, Seagulls, on present showing Burnley have looked most at risk.
Toon or Seagulls - Bruce has a good record for getting sides promoted from the Championship but probably had more sides relegated than most. Brighton’s good football needs to include more goals if they are to survive.

      RIP Saint the Great!

The very first live football match I was ever aware of was - Liverpool 2 Leeds 1, the 1965 FA Cup Final when he scored the winner. All the goals came in extra time, which was unexpectedly dramatic after a somewhat dour, hard-fought 90 minutes.

He became an iconic part of Shankly's iconic team, the spearhead frontman, with Ron Yeats the defensive tower behind.

The brilliant Saint and Greavesie was one of the all-time great football shows...

Never have I been more ashamed than to follow THAT team.

            What a disgrace!

They all lost their way in the foggy foggy dew... as the current leaders soar out of sight.... doubtless making (a lot of) space in the trophy cabinet...
Still there's always the derby to inspire you. And I hope, Cavani, who as I say I do love to watch (when he's not baffled by mist...)...

Another dreaded home game for us tonight. Creating all the wrong kinds of records... But which of the reserves or walking wounded will play? Apart from that disastrously error-prone third-choice 'keeper...
Wait a minute - Alisson's back and Fabinho might be! Jota was... almost.... but he's fallen ill. All par for the course then.

Saints have a big chance to get well clear over the next six games, with the exception of man city away, but that would depend on something actually going right, and us scoring a goal or two.
Even if things do go right - and let's face it, we've seriously pissed off the MIB mafia - it's the goal or two that I can't see coming, and definitely not two in any one game. Maybe we could hang in there for a goalless draw every game, except that seems to be JWP's thinking every time he gets the ball in an attacking position, so it ends up going backwards and we start from scratch, playing rinky-dinky one-twos to bore the opposition to death, if it goes really well. That only works so many times, until it goes pear-shaped and we're a goal down.

It looks horribly like we're depending on other teams' horrible run-ins.

Now come on Jayne and Mario stop whingeing about your mere blips in the higher echelons of the Prem - imagine how you would feel if you had a team in the bottom three seemingly incapable of adding a point to the seasons’s tally watching the teams above you slowly drifting out of sight - your lot will improve shortly and top 4 will remain a possibility. Compare that with the inevitability of the the next tier down!

Point well taken, but is truly all about context and expectation.... if we lose tonight it will be 5, at home, in a row (!)... and if RBL get the better of us next week, the season would be almost finished...not to mention that deep attachment Liverpudlians have to Europe and its football.

It feels so much worse because of how it came about (like Southampton, and Leicester, seasons so marred by injury and loss of home advantage) and in our case, what only just came before after so many trophy-less years... (probably back to that this year...). And I still scowl whenever I see Pickford on the screen...

True fans can't switch their emotions off, whichever echelon their team belongs in: joy, disappointment, frustration, the unbearable hope...
I'll start watching now standing up, tense and apprehensive... brandy at hand, though I can only have sips now after a health scare...

Weymouth 1 Stockport County 0 If only we had a decent striker to put away the numerous chances we create

Great result Anton and Sutton/Wrexham 0-0 did us both a favour
