Well done Foxes, but....
I hope it won't seem churlish to say that we really did throw it away. Again. We gifted it to the opposition.
Another goalkeeper's nightmare for the second consecutive game (partly down to confusion with the new centre back on his debut) after which our defence just fell apart. Allison made a world class save just after the mistake (just to intensify the agony...), but the 3rd goal was another gift. Just like last week, the game turned on two glaring defensive errors.
Commentators like to emphasis the winners' qualities, but anyone who watched this saw the truth. We can still play, very well, but the defensive injuries and shuffling and shifting replacements have spread nervousness through the whole team, especially when things go against us. It doesn't even seem shocking anymore. One becomes resigned.
On top, scored a marvellous goal (see Firmino's footwork for that one...wow...) then threw it away in the last quarter.... sadly and tiresomely familiar.
I'd love Foxes to take a second premiership, but the leaders have a game in hand after today's intriguing tussle with Spurs. They do have a tougher sequence after today though, there may yet be hope for Brendan and his team.
Ah well! There is a Blackcap, a Siskin, a Nuthatch and a Great Spotted Woodpecker outside, and the snow flurry looks pretty.....so take a shrug, a sip of brandy and top up those feeders....
