Jordan Pickford is the answer perhaps? He and Van Dijk, maybe?

It's not a mystery. Lose your best player, ( or your best player in one area of the team,) and it hits you hard, however good the team is.
IMO, Liverpool really need to recruit a world class midfielder, if they want an era of dominance.I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own.

Surprised Curtis Jones didn't come on sooner though - in moving swiftly mid-to-box, one of the successes this season. Terrific prospect.
Midfield based around Thiago (World Class) Hendo and Fabinho could be much more effective... alas...
At the same time, teams have learnt to defend better against our wingbacks, and despite some brilliance at Spurs and West Ham, even Trent-Alex's rangefinder goes astray too often now. Jota is badly missed, as Firmino has often looked tired this season and he was the perfect replacement. Even without Van Dijk, we were doing very well when Jota was in the team, every week, last autumn. But now, too often we're going through a packed central defence, too slowly.
After Spurs and West Ham I thought, "great, we're back!" But at home it was a carbon copy of Burnley. Almost made it easy for them. The goal was a freakish double-ricochet, but when your luck's out.....
The Citizens could be 10 points ahead of us if they win their game in hand and seem to be coping without Aguero or De Bruyne, so Sunday is still massive....some challenge to pick a team for that one! But Curtis would be straight on the team sheet for me...Last edited by jayne lee wilson; 04-02-21, 18:21.

Well our luck returned, but form just gets worse. Well done to AGs boys, who deserved their win but sadly they only needed one bit of luck to survive with nine men, and with a patched up team at that.
A very poor effort indeed from Saints. And that is being polite about it.I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own.
