In case there are any Bury FC fans out there who need cheering up - it took Accrington Stanley just 44 years to return to the Football League. Their first match on their return was against another now-defunct club (Chester City)

The decision will, I understand, be made by the EFL on Friday on whether Bury will remain in the league. They hav3 been expelled from the Carabao Cup as the Owls get a bye and play Rotherham next Tuesday.

Very likely they are one of the league’s regular division changers, though their top flight experience is very much in the past.

maybe alison....it was only a quicky....i don't find him a Premier League manager any more....safe pair of hands maybe, and that is maybe CP's ambition,there does not seem to be much adventure in the board there....(though I thought DM should have been allowed more time at ManU)....he is a honourable serious man....

One decent result for Palace and it could all look a lot different. Shame Zaha didn’t go really as there would have been funds to reinvest and freshen up.

I hope all round ball gamers will be rooting for Bury as the clock ticks towards the pin dropping! Particularly supporters of 5 Prem clubs that have been in administration over the last few years, at least one, twice!

Breaking news is that a buyer has been found.

As much as I wouldn’t want any club to fold can’t help thinking Bury have had somewhat favourable treatment,this wasn’t given to the likes of Darlington, Chester, Hereford, Aldershot, Maidstone etc?

Also many Bury fans let it be known on message boards that they took great pleasure in seeing Stockport in the 6th tier of English football

I hope they don’t go under though,a view not shared by all SCFC fans

Yes, equal treatments are not always meted out - administration has had many different results over the years - the current juxtapositions in the 7 or so tiers shows that! There are those, as I have said, that have moved fairly quickly from bankruptcy to the Promised Land, and some that have transgressed but had good lawyers!

Up here, cloughie, fans of Glasgow Rangers are still taking it out on certain clubs that they hold responsible for sending them down four divisions 7 or 8 seasons back, and they seem to have enjoyed playing the victim role since; and their manager Steven Gerrard seems to have been happy to join in with that 'the victimised' role...Rangers still do not speak to the BBC and will not allow radio commentary on BBC Scotland from their home games...it's like they hold the BBC responsible for their financial shenanigans all those years back. SFA seem powerless to intervene, but it certainly has brought an upsurge in sectarianism between them and their pals at Celtic Park this last couple of years. Rangers have just had a bit of their ground closed for the forthcoming Europa Cup game following sectarian singing in an earlier round of the competition. A colleague of mine who goes to the Rangers home games (and travels too), and seems usually to be of sound mind told me after going to an English Premier League match in Manchester, that the football was quite good but that the experience just wasn't the same without the bigotry (and I didn't detect any irony in the statement).

Anyway I only mention this because the free-scoring Gers come to Paisley on Sunday - I had a horrible dream the other night that I was at the game and had ended up in the Rangers' end, and I was trying to get out as they started to score goals and the fans were telling me to stay and enjoy it...cor! it were horrible. Hope Big Jim gets the Buddies well set for the game tomorrow. Good luck to all the forum teams out there this weekend.
