Whilst nothing surprises me very much in this crazy manager go round, I would be both surprised but also disappointed if Steve went. Mike Ashley’s style is not something which would attract Bruce, as on more than one occasion he has walked from clubs where he has not had support from the owners, and although he has a good record of taking clubs up, his recording of keeping struggling clubs up in the Prem has not been good, and if Newcastle could not do what was necessary to keep Benitez, any incoming manager is surely not going to be fooled into thinking that Ashley, who is probably strapped for cash because of his recent retail commitments is going to provide a pot of brass! Despite the Owls problem with the unfair playrules, I really hope he is not lured away.
