Really sad about Hartlepool's demise. They used to hang around the foot of the old English fourth division in the 60s when I was a teen and I always listened for their result on the teleprinter or in the classified reports. They were a team I always hoped would win, though they seldom did. Yet they always seemed to come back for another season - great survivors - what's not to like. Very sorry, AG, that the great survivors have slipped out of sight for the time being.

Poor Hartlepool and AG. Looked in on the final stages on Sky, what a fabulous atmospheric ground. A shame the old re election process is not in place, there'd be no more popular club.

Great to see the Buddies safe after a working season. Same for Leicester City!

I'm about to study the Championship table to see what's at stake today.

Morning Alison. The Championship is who plays who and where in 3 to 6, and at the other end which giant steps down!

Right, I'm up to speed now. Congrats on the play off place. Who do you fancy - any bogey teams in the mix?

Hope Blackburn stay up. Good morning!

Palace up to their usual tricks. We will probably escape the drop but nails will again be bitten. With the loss of Mamadou Sakho, injured, the defence seems to have collapsed.

No strong preferences, our squad is good enough to take any. Fulham seem to be the goal scoring livewires and if we finish third we will play them three times. Over the season we've beaten Huddersfield twice and Reading beaten us twice, but I find it weird that those two sides have only scraped positive goal differences. I won't make any predictions but I am feeling positive but aware that anything can happen.

You should get a point against Hull, but defence is so important in the PL. Once you start conceding 2 per game you are in huge trouble.Palace have plenty of goal threat, but that will never be enough if you are leaking goals.
Sam has to sort that for next season, as indeed does the Southampton manager.

Previous play off experience surely no bad thing Cloughers. Would be so good to see Wednesday back in the top flight and I will be rooting for you.

Not quite 96 tears cloughers ......

Thanks to everyone for the kind thoughts.

Like JC I remember the sixties and our Chairman the cherubic Mr. Ord (?) setting off around the other chairmen to plead for their votes as we finished yet again in the bottom, was it, 4???

He always succeeded but as an honest monkey hanger the way we have gone is fairer and at least we showed a bit of fight at the end.

The beauty of the unrivalled FOR3 results service is I will never miss a point, even in a lesser place, thanks as always Rob and indeed everyone .....

Well, United used to have the approach of "you score one, we’ll hit you with three" and it worked - probably our most successful PL epoch. Remember us going in 3-0 down at half time against Tottenham Hotspur, and at the final whistle we’d won 5-3?

Many apologies in my despondency I forgot to wish cloughers good luck at High Noon and to give high praise to the Buddies and the Foxes ........

                            Yep, that was some game.
As a discussion point, of Uniteds 12 (?) recent PL winning seasons, they conceded more than 40 goals on three occasions.

But your original point is spot-on. Goal-incontinence is certain death. United were an anomaly.

C'moan the Jags in today's Big Glasgow Derby ... 3-0 to the home side.

And many congrats to both the Hibees and, of course, The Buddies ...

Commiserations from me too, though, to the Monkey Hangers ...
