I have to attend SMS on Weds night in the company of a Palace fan.
I assume they will be resting their best 20 or so players for Wemberlee, where good luck is in order.

I see the Buddies were on fire today. Great stuff.

a fantastic run of games (all the full 90minutes)....no jumpers for goal posts....and you creep into top half of table....I'm becoming unable to find things to rib you about....and you have a cup !!!!

They certainly were, ts. Hope all the goals aren't used up for the rest of the season. Results went in our favour. Sitting seventh with two games to the split...hope we can sneak into the top six.

Saints were pretty decent last night, and probably should have had all three points against a Palace side who were below their best, especially in attack.
Evening only spoiled by some poor defending late on which rather gifted Palace a lifeline. Sort of shows what can be done with a solid defensive and midfield set up.
In a season in which we had only achieved points in five games, it teetered on the edge of enjoyable.

Holmesdale fansiters suggest Palace were terrible in the first half and lucky to get a point. Some commented that Southampton played well enough to suggest that they should not be entrenched at the bottom of the league. I did watch the goals and Mateta had a great shot early on which hit the underside of the bar. Had that one gone in, things might have been different. Whatever result, Saints are almost certainly doomed but obviously three points would have helped them avoid the probably undeserved tag of "the worst team in the history of the Premier League".

Palace fans will have been delighted to see Brighton lose convincingly at home. Just like last season, Eagles still have a chance of overtaking them right at the end and indeed finishing above Man U and Spurs.

I sat with a Palace supporting friend, who agreed that they were a touch lucky to get the point. But although we played up to our best level, we failed to get a second , and defended badly in injury time, and you can’t win games doing that.
Palace just looked a bit leggy, sub par performances more or less all round, but they have bigger days ahead, and they were coming off the back of a big cup tie.
Saints should have made a much better fist of this season, even though relegation was always likely. But we went into the season with a worse attack than we had jn the Championship, and a defence that had leaked too many goals a division lower. And the management looked rudderless after Jason Wilcox left.
Very big lessons need to have been learned.
We’ll be aiming to soften up Villa ready for South London’s Finest in 10 days time !!
