Newcastle United 0 unmentionables 1 Forum derby,It's getting boring now
It must be hard work, always having to reduce the size of the unmentionables and I can understand the antipathy towards a team that has become the plaything of a wealthy owner, but in the interest of balance, may I request similar treatment being given to Chelsea and PSG ?
Looks like Carlos has achieved his aim to manage in the Prem. It would be an interesting turn of events if come May Wednesday are promoted and the Swans relegated but I won't trouble William Hill just yet!

I would have thought that after 14 years Roman could have been cut a bit of slack but I guess that is not what football tribalism is about ? In recent years, Chelsea's net spend has been well below the Manchester clubs and Liverpool and Arsenal have made comparable investments. And Man City and PSG are not so much playthings of a wealthy owner as overseas representatives of nation states.
But regarding the unmentionables, the antipathy between Man City and Stockport does surprise me. Prior to the Arab investment I always thought City were the people's club in Manchester and resentment would have been higher towards United ?

I wasn't aware of any great antipathy between Stockport County and Manchester City, but I moved away from the area 45 years ago, so I'm an unreliable source.
Edgeley Park and Maine Road were in fairly close proximity, so when they played one another in the 2nd tier, it would've been a big match.

I wonder if Carlos belongs to the category of manager I've seen described as 'boom and bust'.
It may have been Alan Pardew that was applied to - and this time we haven't quite seen the 'boom'.

I mentioned Stockport since it is EdgeleyRob who has the "unmentionables" convention

No I don't think so, I think Carlos is a genuine guy but I think he has not recovered from his wrong tactics against Huddersfield and probably was persuaded against his own better judgement to stay. At least that means we were spared the risk of Pardew in the summer - a charisma-free character if ever there was!

OK,OK unmentionables in normal sized font in future

It's not an exact science but in Greater Manchester their is a sort of south-east/north west divide.
So those fans wishing to glory hunt rather than support their local club in say Stockport,Tameside and Oldham tend to favour city and Bolton,Bury and Rochdale would support United.
There has certainly been an increase in the number of city shirts visible on Stockport streets in recent years.
Stockport County was traditionally a favourite lower league team for city fans, many would watch County when their team were away or when we used to play on Friday evenings.
When we started to play them, and beat them,on equal terms and even for a season were in a higher division, the metaphorical patting on the head stopped and the rivalry began, sometimes it was quite ugly.
Of course the clubs are miles apart now,not geographically obviously, but the bitterness of some (not me,it's just light hearted banter) County fans still remains.

Thought you'd know that Alison, 'twas Jonesy who took them to their highest league position ever - 8th in the second tier in the previous season when City were relegated to the third tier.
Didn't get to the game after all tonight. Didn't want to risk the journey to Paisley given the weather in the Central belt after a terrible day up here. Delighted that we got a 2-0 win tonight and now a wee bit clear at the top. Our best player Lewis Morgan, who scored the two second-half goals, is being signed by Celtic but looks like he'll be loaned back to the Buddies for the rest of the season, which is great news. He's got a lot in his locker, as they say.
