Recalls for me a gruesome afternoon in1993 when Oldham beat Southampton 4-3 to send Palace down on goal difference after their first season in the Premier. I remember all too vividly following the whole agonising process via Teletext.

Very sad to see Oldham go out of the league. As your post suggests, they were a real thorn in our side back in the early 90s, playing some swashbuckling football. Sad to see Scunthorpe’s demise too . Not long since they were playing some good football in the second tier. The glory days of four Lincolnshire teams in the FL are a distant memory.
Saints were back to their end of season stupor on Thursday, and we have a tough trip along the coast to Brighton tomorrow.

Yep sad to see Scunny and Latics drop out of the league, had some lively away days at both over the years, might have some more if we don't get our act together

A game of two halves in the Brighton suburbs today, with the good and the bad of this Saints team on show.
However, when Ings was sold, we would all have taken 40 points with 5 to play I suspect.

Not done us any favours, Alison. Next week is a must-not-lose game against the Perth Saints lest we get drawn into the battle to escape the play-offs. I'd be tempted to do a Burnley and let the manager go now. They are playing rubbish since he arrived, and he seems to have got the die-hards on his back. Not good.

Well we did it - Owls fashion - the hard way but saved by a couple of goals to complete Gregory’s hat trick in the 73/74 mins. Now have pts and gd advantage for Saturday - a point could do it but 3 would be good!
