I see the lazy, pampered Premier League has a rest this weekend! As usual the BBC can’t be bothered with a ‘Final Score’ for the 72 EFL clubs and Scotland or the National League - typical!
We've got Sportscene on up here, cloughie, though don't expect to hear too much about the Owls, or, for that matter, the free scoring Stockport County. By the way, I only found out last week, on our petty and ill-informed footie chat show on Radio Scotland with Stuart and Tam, why Sheffield was called Wednesday...so maybe you do want to have a butchers at Sportscene after all, cloughie.
Gambia v Cameroon 0-0 at HT, attack v defence, underdogs Gambia hanging on heroically..... war of attrition, more gripping the later it goes, might go (yet again) to ET and pens....(unhelpfully similar strips though...)...
Mané and Salah should be there Sunday for Senegal and Egypt (despite Captain Salah, pretty defensive themselves)....
Injury-time goal last night denied the Buddies the three points in what looked a pretty dire mid-winter affair in Paisley. One each; still in ninth - getting very tight down there.
Big footie news up here broke yesterday when Raith Rovers signed striker David Goodwillie from Clyde. 'The striker was ruled to be a rapist and ordered to pay damages in a civil case in 2017.
He never faced a criminal trial over the rape accusation after prosecutors said there was not enough evidence.'
Lifelong Raith fan, Val McDermid withdrew her sponsorship of the club and the signing led to the resignation of two of the Club's directors, the captain of the women's team, and some of the club volunteers. It seems that some of the fans stayed away, and many who did attend the 3-3 draw with bottom-side Queen of the South last night booed the manager when he came to the dug-out. Sounds like they're not singing and dancing on the streets of Raith at the moment.
Hard fought win against a 10 man defence - three injuries, four subs used - one due to concussion allowed! - at least we managed to avoid the dubious record of Morecambe doing the double over us - manager Moore absent with Covid!
jc - ref Raith, bearing in mind the offence the ‘accused’ has an unfortunate name!
Classic 6-pointer in Serie A Today. Inter 1 Milan 2, with two late goals from the film-star-looks veteran striker Giroud to dramatically turn it around (only in the side due to Ibra being injured). Inter would have been 7 points clear if they'd held on, now it's just the one!
Wonderful game worthy of the San Siro. What a prospect our showdown with Inter is...!
