Only beaten three to nil by Gerrard's Champ elects this afternoon - that's a defeat rather than a humping, which starts at 4-0, by my calculations . A win versus Hamilton next week would guarantee us a top 6 and the chance to get the honour to play Rangers and Celtic and the rest for the remainder of the season. On the upside, however, relegation would be removed from the Big Jim game plan. Great result for the southern Saints - should settle ts' nerves a bit. Sorry 'bout the Owls - no new manager bounce...yet. Mixed news, I notice, in the Conference - getting kinda tight up there, but all to play for.

Just like p*****y eh, trying to avoid the top 6 JC?

Anyway, Stoatfoe’s pessimism proved unfounded as the Super Saints plodded to a reasonably comfortable win ( at last) in South Yorkshire. Lack of confidence showed in a series of poor passing decisions from the front players, but even with Ings out for a few weeks again, things look a bit brighter, and more confidence should return if we can avoid a drubbing on Weds.

Very pleased for my pessimism to prove unfounded. Even JWP playing the ball forward for a change, even if it was from a penalty. So, a relegation six-pointer tucked away, it's on to a championship (or whatever it's called) six-pointer... ahem.

Massive win for Leicester at Brighton after very poor first half showing.

...and back in 2nd again, Alison - not bad...and Jamie's bound to start scoring again soon.

Huge game for the Toon today...six-pointer if ever there was one!

Whither Palace? Zaha back today so a win tonight against Spurs is guaranteed. Article in last week's Observer about our much-travelled supremo, Roy Hodgson, in last week's Observer: Roy's arrival back in his native Croydon is compared to Odysseus' long-delayed return to Ithaca.

Apologies for the radio silence Cloughie, in the midst of moving house this weekend.

Just managed to find my laptop and make contact with the outside world again. A brief respite this afternoon (maybe) from the turmoil of moving in readiness for the Manchester derby.

Like Jayne, I accept your admonishment although…

Is it really “better to have loved and lost, than never to have loved at all”?

I’ve never been able to reconcile this one. Yes, to combat the immeasurable loss of a loved one with the ecstasy of pure love is maybe acceptable, but maybe NOT preferable not to have loved, for no loss ensues.

So (for Jayne) from the paroxysm of the Champions League win to the rather mundane recent losses, and (for me) from the trophy-laden Fergie years to the one-shot-in-the-entire-game-against-Palace performances, are rather difficult to take.

I believe you are an Owls fan. I concur. Losses against Reading are not easy to take, and of course, 2nd from the top of the Premiership, is rather more palatable. No, I don’t accept that a top four finish is a given.

Nevertheless, slap on the wrist painfully accepted, I’ll refrain from complaining again about Man Utd (including after this afternoon’s match).

                  A million unopened boxes beckon…

                  Best wishes,

                  Mario

0-1 at halftime again after 5 home defeats, with 7 changes to the team and after a performance Graeme Souness has just described as "unacceptable..."

Forgive me Mario, but there is absolutely nothing mundane about this....

If we hadn’t stupidly sacked Big Sam we could have had results like this every week

                      WBA 0 Toon 0

Interesting to look at the demise of Liverpool and compare it with Celtic's decline this season. Some up here suggest that Rangers have benefited greatly from NOT having the fans on their backs during the crowd-free games, whereas Celtic have lost that 12th man without the supporters there to will them on, especially when things have got rough for them. Mind you, Celtic looked like they ran out of new ideas just at a time when Rangers seemed to get some new ones; and perhaps more important than winning the title, Rangers have prevented Celtic achieving the mythical ten-in-a-row. So as well as being an Anfield hero, Stevie G will don the mantle as a true hero of the Govan fraternity.

Solihull Moors 0 Stockport County 5 Scored 4 in 11 first half minutes after the hosts had a man sent off

and all of a sudden Torquay are 3rd, surely Sutton won't last the pace

Certainly interesting at the National summit!

Great result, Edge. Did I notice that the 'pool also picked up a point as well?
