Is this a first for a Forum team to replace a Forum team at the top? Then the Hangers have a game in hand.

Injury time equaliser for us yesterday , one of the sweetest things in football. Great to see Theo back and contributing well to what sounds like a very good performance other than our usual defensive vulnerability. That said, the surprise package of the season far is the improvement in Vestegaard, who is looking like an actual premier league CB after a distinctly ordinary first season .

Covid interruptus for the Buddies yesterday...after being unable to field a goalie a few weeks back, the Buddies only had eight outfielders and four goalies available yesterday, after another positive test in coronavirus Central...different league from table-topping Edgy, but opposite end of the table.

Leicester v Villa looks like a very tasty game this evening...suppose it'll end up goal-free!

Worst fears confirmed about Virgil..... the dreaded ACL surgery..... there have been some famous comebacks from this though - Baggio, Del Piero, Shearer, and my much-admired Ibrahimovic, who is still playing at 39 - and scoring for Milan v Inter tonight!
But it does mean months of recovery...

              Pickford has at least apologised....

But I think we urgently need to try another keeper, of which there are two promising youngsters in reserve... and time to bring Van Den Berg into defence, maybe for the visit to his old rivals Ajax this week...
You could say we've been too dependent on Alisson and Van Dijk, but some players can't really be replaced...

Interested in Gurney’s thoughts on the M23 derby.
My feeling is that Palace are in now danger of being held back by the system that has served them so well. No doubt Roy knows better than me, but allowing a decent side like Brighton so much of the ball is asking for trouble, great though Palace are in the break. But if they are to become more ambitious, they will need more creative work and possession from their midfield, and I don’t know if they have that capability ir not.

Sorry to hear about VVD, he may well need a very long time to get over this. It took J Rod a good couple of years to really get back to his best.as Jayne says, he is pretty well irreplaceable, as was Mane for us .......

Palace nearly got away with a win, but showed far too little attacking ambition and can't really complain about only drawing. I was frustrated with their performance.

I wonder if this should be on the Good News stories thread as well.

Newcastle United supporters have raised an estimated £19,000 by choosing to give to a local food bank charity rather than watching their team on pay-per-view at the weekend, a fans’ group has said.

From a report in today's Guardian:

Newcastle United have raised an estimated £19,000 for a local food bank by boycotting their pay-per-view game against Manchester United

Thanks for that Pulcers, I hadn’t read about that. A brilliant initiative. .

Of course, they may have had an inkling about the likely result...

Good question,it must have happened before but maybe not in this league.
3 very strong teams occupying top 3 places and I'd expect Notts County,Wrexham and possibly Yeovil to challenge as the season progresses.
It's going to be an interesting season in the National League

Inspirational gesture by the fans though.

Manchester United, so mediocre in the Premier League this season, can thump PSG.
Jimmy Greaves was right. It’s a funny old game.
