No game for the Buddies - Mother's well has overflowed onto Fir Park.

I have to say that the news about Manchester City is quite amusing...sorry to any Man City fans and Sheikhs out there. Wonder if Rob has heard it on his southern sojourn? He'll like that one.

....yes arsenal turned it on all of a sudden by playing a bit quicker....but isn't that the cmodern way - feel out first half, halftime team talk, faster and finding space that has been identified in second....

That's a roundabout way of progressing in a Cup tournament. Saints 4-1 to the good at half-time at Fir Park. Motherwell come back and equalise and look like the only team in it. Game goes to extra-time, but no further scoring and Saints take the penalty shoot out, 3-2. Killie or the Dons in the last eight.

Surely jc you’ve followed them long enough to know the easy way is not an option!

Ah, the magic of the cup. A win is a win, and inagine how Motherwell feel. Or don’t .
Anyway, doubtless it will be a feisty Paisley welcome for your QF visitors.

                        Atlético Madrid 1 v Liverpool 0

The referee seemed intimated by the vociferous Madrid crowd and fell for all those tactical fouls by Atlético and all that rolling around holding the face when challenged.

"Tactical fouls", Stan? How very polite of you....this was Oscar-level play-acting, nothing less, with a very weak ref (they are usually much harder on this now & as a result you see far less of it....usually )

Hard to watch and tough to take.... but despite their Simeone-inspired "unsportsmanlike" approach Atletico played very well... they pressed and harried, and defended with great discipline. But this is the Champions League. We expected this to be a tough one.

But that return leg... oh boy......intensity to the max!

                            - yeah, I used the word roundabout, cloughie, but rollercoaster would be a bit more appropriate for last night's game. The hardest thing to believe is that we scored four goals in the first half...must be a good while since that happened! We scored no goals in the second half, which is just a bit more common.

After the 120 minutes and penalties earlier in the week, I was sort of glad that the Saints' match with the Jam Tarts was postponed last night...water, water everywhere. Unfortunately Hamilton and Ross County picked up points today, which was unfortunate. It's tight down there. Third bottom with games in hand. Good result for Hartlepool there, anton, and I notice the southern saints had a good day too. Thought the Owls had it in the bag, but looks like there was late negative drama.
