Lot of discussion on MOTD2 today of the appalling standard of officialdom, refs & linesmen, in the Premier League. Normally I'd be opposed to VAR -- thinking, possibly naively, that our officials are above suspicion..but I begin to have my doubts. In contrast to this, I thought the level of refereeing in the last World Cup in Russia, where most English referees were absent, for whatever reason, was much higher than that habitually on display at home..

I think the whole debacle needs a long overdue massive overhaul!

Frustrating but eventually satisfactory trip to Selhurst to see Palace yesterday. Our first half performance was dispiriting and there were a few boos at half time. Quite sad to be the ones to send Hudders down. Their fans were great, frequently outsinging our usually ebullient and non-stop home chorale. Many Palace fans stood and clapped their supporters after the match. We may yet be the ones to send down Cardiff in our penultimate match of the season. Especially after yesterday, I will be sorry for Cardiff, if not their manager.

Not a Colin fan then? I thought he did a good job for you ‘til the club went bust and he deserted the sinking ship.

He is an enthusiast and did a job for Palace. I was neutral on the whole about him at the time. I'm afraid recent non-football outbursts have coloured my opinion of him.

Well as an Owls fan it is in my DNA to not like him!

Didn't see the Cardiff game, and almost feel sorry for them. These things do happen, ( check about 200 of my posts for confirmation) and I suppose will even out over a season. For clubs at the bottom , that would mean that we all get a relatively similar number of terrible decisions. We had a win against Watford wiped out by a just plain wrong offside decision in the autumn.

There IS bias , at any level , towards the bigger clubs, of that I am sure. I don't think there is much out and out corruption, but I do think it happens more than we care to admit. I see things going on from time to time that are beyond human error. The Nani sending off at OT a few years ago in the CL was the one that really raised my suspicions, I'm afraid.

Properly trialled VAR , with tight protocols, just can't come quickly enough IMO.

If I worried about football managers' politics.....oh well, best not go there......

                      UNIVERSAL VAR - NOW!
I feel the 2018 World Cup demo'd how it does far more good than harm. Most of the supposed "controversy" about it has come from handball-penalty decisions, but that is because of an uncertainty about "intention" or the reading of such. That law could easily be redrawn to everyone's advantage.

But for God's sake, now the concept is generally accepted, get the cameras in there. Poor Cardiff!
For us, every game has been like a cup final for weeks now, and against Saints this Friday one scarcely dares to think the difference one bad decision could make...
Those last minute goals and goalie errors! Every point counts now, it really does.....

Should be a bit of a cauldron on Friday night.( Can you have a bit of a cauldron ?!)
It's my week for the tickets, really looking forward to it.

The Championship is a VARless cauldron - should have been used at Stoke on Saturday for Boyd’s goal! Another two points would have been handy, and we would have been 1 point off the playoffs!

Unsurprisingly we got beat by Celtic but no major damage to our GD (2-0) and both our rivals at the foot of the table also beaten. Still 2nd bottom - huge game on Saturday v close rivals, Hamilton, before the table splits and every game is a cup final.

Looked at an article on Spurs new stadium. Very impressive at a £1bn, I’m not surprised! Probably cheap by comparison!
