Sous La Vide bags let you cook food in your washing machine; and yes, you can cook the food right along with your laundry.

Tho' for Die Forelle I suspect a dishwasher to be a better bet than a washing machine -

How we wished for a dishwasher at times like that!

Overheard yesterday in the Olde Naked Man Cafe in Settle:

"Chickens are such stupid animals, they should be re-classified as vegetables!"

"Ye Olde … Café" is the odd combination
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

... hmm, looks South American Spanish to me - cafetería

                      Shurely caphetarium is the Latin?

"Turcae habent etiam in usu herbae genus quam vocant Caphe ... quam dicunt haud parvum praestans illis vigorem, et in animas (sic) et in ingenio; quae tamen largius sumpta mentem movet et turbat..." F Bacon, Hist. Vitae et Mortis, 25 [1623].

Two women chatting outside a primary school earlier on:

"Well I was skinny, SKINNY, until I had HIM!!!" - pointing a waving finger down at the five-year-old she had gripped by the other hand, poor little chap.

I guess many people just don't realise how funny their remarks can sound, when caught out of context.

And the kid will remember it too, be sure, Mum!

I was at the ATM in West Norwood just now, and remarked to the lady next in the queue on how slow this particular machine seemed to be. And she answered with a straight face, "I was thinking that! I understand some of these banks are taking on people with learning disabilities!"

" . . . taking on people with learning disabilities!", Well, there seems to have been a policy of appointing people with very poor fiscal learning skills as CEOs of big banks.

Maybe she really meant that - it hadn't occurred to me!! People around here have very droll senses of humour.
