It took genius to turn Allegri’s Miserere into a Mass!

And for Mozart visiting St Paul's to hear something being sung in the Sistine Chapel.

I will surprise you all with my proudly intellectual response to Ms Klass, but let me do so in a few years time when I have listened to all the 200 CDs in that bumper box. She will just have to wait in the meantime.

As a young man, he visited St Paul’s in Rome and heard Gregorio Allegri’s Miserere being performed. This sacred piece of music had never been written down but Mozart went back to his boarding house and transcribed the entire mass from memory, perfectly. That’s what I mean by genius.
