    .

    ... well, they need funding.

We donate from time to time, because we use wiki a lot and think it only right that we contribute to their costs.

Do you find this problematic? If the users don't fund it, who should?

They've been asking for donations for quite some time, and explaining why they are needed, but I did notice that the request has been placed more prominently now.

Quite. I did recently, for the first time (having previously ignored the prompts ), and will do so again.

TBH I hadn't thought about it - will do now though.

Same with me. I usually get a 'personal' email from Jimmy Wales now and I stump up most times.
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

I haven't done yet, this time, as rather busy, but considering how much we use it I think it's not unreasonable.

I did pay up last year, and now am being nagged/nudged to do so again.

I'll add it to my list of things to do.

Yes, I contribute too. As an example, I listened to the 'Duo' cd of Sol Gabetta and Helène Grimaud yesterday which is very good if not quite hitting the heights in the Brahms 1st 'cello sonata. However, I didn't know anything about the DSCH 'cello sonata which is also on the programme and the disc's booklet consisted of a very strange conversations between the two ladies saying how completely and totally wonderful they found each other.

So, off to Wicki I went and very helpful it was too!

As do I. One of the unblemished gems of the Internet. I expect a lot of the money goes on storage costs for servers.

I've coughed up my regulation tenner.

Will be able to refuse all the usual Christmas charity tin shakers with the honest reply that "I've already given mate".

They usually make a request around now, and have done for a few years. They explain a bit about why in their email or notice on the site. As I use it a lot, I give.

I must confess I've never contributed ... but Wiki is, of course, an extremely useful public reference these days and I'm sure S_A might well contribute in future!
