TV Licence updating online - alert

Coincidentally, I've just had my TV Licence renewed and I did have an e-mail telling me just before it was automatically done. I pay monthly by DD and am happy enough with this. When SA set up the original payment he must have clicked on the auto-renewal option and missed the reminder.

Home insurance auto renewal is something to be beware of. It usually gets ramped up so you have to be super careful not to get ripped off. Saga recently sent me an auto renewal notice for £332 which stung me into action. Eventually found a deal with Legal & General on exactly the same basis for £129.68 so told Saga where to go.

Direct Debit is something that I woldn't touch with or even without a barge pole. I try to pay all of my regular commitments by credit card (which means no bank charges). Some are monthly on a variable CCA (Continuous Card Authority) and a few like the TV license are done annually, for which I receive a reminder to go online and process it manually.

You should have had some kind of statement that your DD comes off automatically, though.

So how do you pay the DVLA when you tax your car ?
