Come on, you Have-a-Go Heroes! Be a Radio 3 Presenter!

Ever thought "I could do better than that?"

    Test your theory:

    Come on, anton!

"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
    Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

on-air talent shows belong elsewhere - there are I suspect much better arrangements to improve the choice of announcers - eg clear voice, some ability to handle a reasonable range of European names, avoidance of instant personal reaction to the piece they have just heard - I'm sure others could add to this

And Katie Derham is the benchmark, is she?

Crikey. One of the most divisive voices on R3. Her speeds range from 'look out sound-barrier, here I come' to beyond the speed of light and inaudibility, particularly when finishing sentences. And the 'asides'......

      I am amazed.

        Oh please no.
Just play the music, tell us who wrote it,who is playing it,a little background info (having done some homework !),let the listener decide if the music/performance is or isn't amazing..

Radio 3 is becoming more stupid than ever.

            How about having NO PRESENTER?

New presenter voices, seems like a good idea, power to the people! (J Corbyn, Liverpool, 2016)

I'd be terrible at it. I take comfort in Dr Johnson: You may abuse a tragedy, though you cannot write one. You may scold a carpenter who has made you a bad table, though you cannot make a table. It is not your trade to make tables. I know a good presenter when I hear one.

I'd certainly be promoting the more serious music of brass and wind bands plus other genres I like too!

Remember Pete Brown reporting on Points West back in the '80s, eighth?

I don't know but wonder whether you might have any particular one/s in mind? - maybe Katie Hanham or Knowla Derham?...

Should we be giving credence to this silly gimmick by even discussing it?

They held a 'talent' competition a few years back for a new presenter (won by SMP, who had had some experience of radio). Maybe they really are feeling that desperate as to think that anyone just in off the street might be more knowledgeable than one or two of the current presenters. 'Training given.'
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

                              Or even credibility?
