I heard one in June this year while standing in the garden of Elgar's Birthplace in Broadheath (Worcestershire). Sadly, I've never seen one.

Ironically, it'd be most unlikely to be able to hear a cuckoo in Spring (or at any other time) in the garden of the Delius Birthplace:
