given that most people probably think it is a dull chore, I think it is all its cracked up to be, and more.
not the worst task on a decent day, which are the only days you tend to do it anyway.

Shouldn't that be "cracked down"? Doesn't "cracked up" suggest that something has a wonderful reputation? (To take your example, does anyone ever use the phrase "it's exactly what it's cracked up to be" and expect anyone else to understand that it's a terrible experience?)

They needn't be; some's a good deal more environmentally friendly than others on that count.

If I say to you " Hanging out the washing is better than it is cracked up to be", it might be ( would be)outside the usual usage, but you would understand my meaning, I expect, even though we aren't discussing fine dining, or great music, or whatever.

"I always think …" said Ann.

"That food tastes much better outside," chorused Julian, Dick, George and Timmy the dog.

It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

                Blue sky thinking.

What's wrong with grey sky thinking, anyway?
Many more opportunities in this country, and presumably they would include the 'Indoors if wet' option.

Can it really be that Damian Hirst hasn't been mentioned yet?

Yes it’s true, but he might not even get mentioned at all.

Yes, and Roger Scruton of course, although he of course isn't cracked up to be very much except possibly by Scotty.

I'm rather fond of Carl D (if only to do a joke about aesthetics and curry !)
but Scrote is definitely a fake
