Things that are not all they're cracked up to be

Rev. Richard Coles (ex-Communard) is an amusing person to follow on Twitter; and he started a little game as above. I thought Forumites might have some good suggestions.

He started the ball rolling with

    Satnavs

    Quesadillas

    Referendums.

    I'd disagree with #2 - I like a nice quesadilla.

    I would replace them with

    Celery
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
    Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

    Celery? Are you mad?

How can chicken broth (the clear stuff, for those who don’t know) be made without celery???

You’ll have the whole of Italy, Spain and Argentina coming down on you!!!

      I agree about Satnavs.
in th old days, when there were traffic hold ups, us sales guys could beat almost any delays with our nose for a short cut and giant road map.

nowadays everybody switches on their satnav, phone or whatever, and just clogs up the little lanes instead.

Plus, what would a Knightsbridge vicar know about it anyway?

Digital cameras. Easy to use etc but just looking at some of my photos taken over 30 years ago shows just how much better the quality of Kodakchrome film was over the latest digital gizmo.

Are you referring to Richard Coles? If so, he's not a "Knightsbridge vicar" - his parish is the very pleasant village of Finedon in Northamptonshire - about 3 miles from where I live.

Well in that case I beg his pardon. I thought, as you can tell, that he had a llving in West London. I stand corrected.

you certainly need a good Satnav in Northamptonshire, specially round Corby.
unless, you are a priest, apparently.

Edit: I see he was at one time in Knightsbridge, and chaplain at the RAM.

Bring 'em on. It's the most unpleasant, disappointing stuff. (What about Beef broth? )

So many broths, soups and stocks cannot be made without the ‘Holy Trinity’ of onion carrot and celery. Some believe it’s the cornerstone of civilisation. Beef broth? Not sure.

                        Hershey's chocolate.

What on earth makes the americans buy it?
                        Awful.

                            Cream crackers.

Do they really have cream in? Very unlikely IMO.

...and doesn't the same company now own Cadbury's?
